Welcome back to Something About Coins! Another price update was just reported about the America the Beautiful Bullion Silver Coins on the secondary market. NGC certified a new variety of Carson City Gold Eagles. The Pobjoy Mint released their Prince William and Kate Middleton Royal Engagement Coins. A rare 1804 silver dollar that was donated before Christmas to the Salvation Army turned out to be a fake coin according to an appraisal at the Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo. The Reserve Bank of India is discontinuing some lower denomination coins, and BBC is showing pictures of a few of the small, discontinued circulation coinage from the Royal Mint. Enjoy!
ATB 5-ounce market robust, coinvaluesonline.com
Collectors are still paying huge premiums for 2010 America the Beautiful 5-ounce .999 fine silver bullion coins and completed transactions on eBay continue to document the market as it progresses. While the nine authorized purchasers that purchased these coins directly from the U.S. Mint are allowed to sell these coins for a modest profit — the prices on the primary market have been around $950 per set — several authorized purchasers have yet to sell their sets. This gives some collectors hope of still ... Click for coin article
NGC Certifies Significant Carson City Variety, ngccoin.com
This newly discovered Carson City variety bears a tripled reverse die. A coin submitted to NCS for conservation followed by NGC grading has turned out to be an unpublished variety. This gold eagle coined at the Carson City Mint in 1892 bears a distinctly tripled reverse die, which is quite visible within the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. With a mintage of only 40,000 pieces this issue is scarce and popular with collectors, and it would have been coined from a very limited number of dies. It’s therefore ... Click for coin article

It was discovered among the thousands people plunked into the local Salvation Army's kettles over the Christmas holiday. "We have a hillside behind our emergency shelter that could be expanded with a new retaining wall, along with new landscaping to fit the area," Gillies ... Click for coin article
