US Mint 2010 Annual Coin Production Rises 79.6%, Mintages Near 6.4 Billion, CoinNews.net
US Mint annual coin production shot higher in 2010 after circulating coin mintages plunged to the lowest point in decades during the previous year. 2010 levels were still significantly lower than those from 2008, however, when the American recession began to earnestly kick-in and cut the demand for circulating change. The United States Mint produced nearly 6.4 billion coins for circulation last year, marking an increase of more than 2.8 billion, or 79.6 percent, over the 3.548 billion coins minted in 2009 ... Prices of America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins, SilverCoinsToday.com
Limited mintages and extremely limited availability has helped drive prices of the 2010 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins through the roof. It has been barely a month since the US Mint Authorized Purchasers were allowed to place their initial orders for the three-inch, five ounce .999 fine silver coins. These first orders were taken on December 10, 2010, ending a short delay in their release which had been planned for the 6th of the month. The release was postponed by the US Mint in response to concerns over reports of excessive premiums being charged. As a ... Click for coin article
ATB 5-ounce silver coins hot, coinvaluesonline.com
The first 2010 America the Beautiful 5-ounce .999 fine silver bullion coins have entered the marketplace and collectors have responded by paying huge prices for the five-coin set on eBay. While the Dec. 20 Market Analysis column anticipated that the surprisingly low mintage would cause speculation, the results of the first week of completed transactions on eBay are just short of shocking. The 3-inch-diameter bullion quarter dollars are in hot demand as their mintage was strictly limited to not more than 33,000 of each design. The authorized purchasers who elected to take part ... Mint Rations Silver Eagles, NumisMaster.com
Even though the U.S. Mint had 469,500 leftover 2010 silver American Eagle bullion coins, it was taking no chances as it imposed rationing of the 2011 silver American Eagle supply on its Authorized Purchasers. The Mint calls the rationing method "allocation." Also, in order to prevent Authorized Purchasers from ignoring the remaining 2010 supply, the Mint says that the coins are being sold off on a 5-1 ratio basis when ordering 2011 coins. That means the AP's must buy one 2010 coin for every five 2011 coins they buy. This system was used at the beginning of 2010 as ... Click for coin article
Low Ball Coins, pcgsblog.com
Can you believe that a coin graded PCGS Poor 1 will bring a higher premium than a coin that is graded PCGS MS63. It's unbelievable. This 1897-S Morgan Dollar graded PCGS Poor 1 sold for $565 on November 2010. The same coin in Uncirculated PCGS MS63 grade sells for under $120. And there are many more PCGS Poor 1 examples in the market realizing even more. Who would have ever thought that a coin that is almost completely worn and has the date and design just visible could be worth more than a coin in Uncirculated grades. At PCGS, a coin assigned ... A Quick 2011 FUN Sale Analysis, raregoldcoins.com
The 2011 Heritage FUN Sale contained some of the most interesting and freshest coins that have appeared at auction in the last few years. Yes, there were some retreads, some low-end "stuff" and some run-of-the-mill lots, but there were also some really exceptional coins; most of which could be found in Thursday night's Platinum Night session. I'd like to focus on a group of coins from this session that I found exceptional. 1. 1864 Quarter Eagle, NGC PR65 Cameo, CAC Gold Label. Lot 5033. I have seen some pretty incredible Proof quarter eagles over the years but ... Click for coin article
