A Manhattan jeweler is charged with buying stolen property after he purchased a large portion of a multi-million-dollar collection of rare coins and currency that was stolen almost a year ago from a coin dealer as he dined in a Montville restaurant, an FBI official said Friday. Despite the arrest, the investigation is still ongoing, according to Jim Margolin, a special agent in the FBI's New York office. Two men went to a Macungie bank Wednesday to trade in more than $1,000 worth of silver coins that had been stolen in a Berks County burglary earlier in the day, police said. Philip A. Peterwas, 20, of Philadelphia and Maxwell D. Rutkowski, 20, of Barto, Berks County, were charged Thursday with receiving stolen property and conspiracy. Peterwas also was charged with burglary. Numismatic Crime Information Crime Bulletin/Alert: The South St. Paul Minnesota Police Department is investigating the September 26, 2010 vehicle burglary of coin dealer Lee Orr. At approximately 2:10pm in the afternoon the victim was loading his vehicle preparing to leave a local coin show in South St. Paul.
