The United States Mint will strike up to 2 million silver medals in 2011 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Archaeologists working in Israel have uncovered a rare 2,200-year-old gold coin, the heaviest and with the highest contemporary value of any found in excavations in the country, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) announced Thursday. The coin, uncovered in the northern area of Tel Kedesh on the border with Lebanon, was minted in Alexandria in 191 BC and bears the name of Arsinoe II Philadephus, the wife of Ptolemy II Philadephus.
