Welcome back to Something About Coins! Profits can still be made on last year's Lincoln silver dollars, and a discussion of rare coins is made in a few of the coin articles linked below.

The 2009 Abraham Lincoln Commemorative Silver Dollars were released by the U.S. Mint on the bicentennial of the birth of the 16th President of the United States, February 12, 2009. They were hot. The Mint’s entire mintage of 450,000 single coins sold out in six weeks. Coin Rarities & Related Topics: 1794 Silver Dollar, 1795 Reeded Edge Large Cent, and selected coins in the Summer FUN Auction, CoinLink.com
Herein, I discuss an assortment of rarities 'in the news,' the NGC graded "MS-64" 1794 dollar, a newly re-emergent 1795 Reeded Edge Cent, an 1882 $20 gold coin, 1865 $2½ coins, and 1865 quarters. The 1795 Reeded Edge Cent is certainly much rarer than most collectors realize and many have forgotten that the finest known Holmes-Naftzger 1795 Reeded Edge set an auction record for a copper coin or pattern, and is the only copper to sell for more than $1 million at auction. As these coins have become increasingly popular over the course of time (they are actually the most popular gold coins from this mint by a considerable margin) I think this would be an excellent time to begin a series of articles. It is only natural to divide these coins into three groups and this would be as follows: Type One, 1854-1866; Type Two, 1866-1876; and Type Three, 1877-1907. This first article is going to deal with the very popular Type One ... Click for coin article

Not so, say the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Royal Canadian Mint. Each were downplaying ... Click for coin article
