The United States Mint this morning released coin production figures for March, and for the first time this year circulating 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters were struck. Also minted were additional Lincoln cents, Native American Dollars and Presidential $1 Coins.The U.S. Mint nearly doubled production in March with 384.42 million coins as compared to the February total of 194.40 million. The following Email was received from Detective Christopher Browne of the Acton, Mass Police Department reporting the theft of coins from his car and reported the crime to the police at 3:49 p.m. April 3. "Coin dealer Lano Balulesco of Concord, MA, had just departed from a Coin Show in Neighboring Town of Westford Ma. Lano had his coins on display at the show. A new quarter depicting Hot Springs National Park will be available to the public for the first time at a ceremony this month honoring the park's 178th anniversary. The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation has formed a new category in its registry to allow collectors to list their early American gold coins. Along with the opening of this new category at NGC Registry is the inclusion of an early gold collection named the American Independence Collection. This counterfeiting ring is suspected of putting thousands of fake coins onto the world and U.S. coin markets every month.
