The 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollars premiered from the US Mint just two weeks ago and not surprisingly, mintage limits are fast approaching and the secondary market is already seeing a decent trade in these commemorative strikes. Customers were initially able to place orders for the Boy Scout coins beginning on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Coin Monday: Personal Treasures from the S.S. Central America, Heritage Blog
There are certain stories that will be told and retold for as long as there are collectors of U.S. coinage. The sinking of the S.S. Central America, with its lost gold and lost lives, has enough financial and personal tragedy to endure for centuries. Yet for decades the disaster faded from memory, not quickly but with the slow erosion of waves on a rock, as ships such as the Titanic and the Lusitania took on more meaning. When the Central America’s gold was re-discovered, so too was its story, and the long-forgotten details ... Click to read coin article

The Best Values in Todays Rare Coin Market, RareGoldCoins.com
There are many issues that face collectors in the coin market of 2010. A lack of quality coins is driving many collectors to seek new areas of specialization. Both PCGS and NGC have recently added “plus” grades which will no doubt change certain areas of the market as well. More than ever, collectors are gravitating towards areas that offer value. The days of new collectors and uninformed wealthy investors arbitrarily throwing money at plastic rarities are over and we appear to be back to a collector-oriented market ... France Continues to Wow With 2010 Collection, Numismaster.com
Monnaie de Paris, the French Mint, recently revealed its plans for 2010, which will continue on the logic it introduced to its issues in 2009. Indeed, Monnaie de Paris was issuing silver 1/4-euro coins that were 30 mm in diameter and weighed 13.0 grams, silver 1-1/2-euro coins 37 mm in ... Click to read coin article
Garage 'haunted by coin-throwing ghost', Telegraph.co.uk
Nick White said the spectre has materialised several times in the building, which was originally a chapel and served as a makeshift mortuary during World War II. He claimed it has moved around piles of tyres during the night while the garage, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was locked. Two pre-war coins have also mysteriously turned up on the garage floor, and Mr White believes they were left by the ghosts, which has been seen wearing 1940s dress. Mr White found the first of the old penny pieces, dated 1936 and ... Click to read coin article
