Welcome to Something About Coins! Below are a few quick snapshots of recent coin collecting news.
CoinNews.net posted a chart with the latest U.S. Mint January mintage numbers, and it noted the sharp decline in production. Only cents, half dollars, and dollar coins were struck; no dimes, nickels or quarters were produced last month.
Dave Harper also commented on the downsized mintage numbers, observing production used to be in the billions. He stated 218,410,000 coins were made in January, but the bulk of it was mostly coins "the public doesn't want or need." He was talking about the dollar coins.
